Adults and Juniors (ages 12-17) needed for 2021 Little League Season!

Here at NOLL/SOLL, we love baseball! Our goal is to always have well-managed and well-officiated games. That’s where the umpires come in.

NOLL/SOLL offers youth baseball to over 1500 boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 16 in Oakland. Our league includes both instructional and competitive divisions.  Umpire volunteers are needed for all competitive levels, beginning with AA Minors – our 8-9 year olds.

Who makes a good NOLL/SOLL Umpire?

  • Any adult who enjoys the game of baseball and wants to give back to their community
  • Parents of  Little League players
  • 12-17 year olds looking for leadership training opportunities

No experience necessary! In 2021, there are several online umpire training clinics that cover rules, field mechanics, and game management. We will also have an in-person field mechanics training either May 1 or May 2. New umpires are assigned an experienced mentor to help them along.

We provide official umpire shirts, caps, and most equipment. (Umpires must have their own protective cup.)  Due to COVID-19, we will not have shared umpire masks. All umpire can either choose to purchase a mask (and be reimbursed by NOLL/SOLL) or borrow a mask from NOLL/SOLL for the season. Junior umpires receive a meal allowance. More information about gear and meal allowances will be shared at the training clinics.

IMPORTANT! Prior to umpiring a game, see below requirements:
