Umpires Needed!!! Adults and Youth (ages 12-17)
Here at NOLL/SOLL, we love baseball! Our goal is to always have well-managed and well-officiated games. That’s where the umpires come in.
NOLL/SOLL offers youth baseball to over 1000 boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 16 in Oakland. Our league includes both instructional and competitive divisions. Volunteer umpires are needed for all competitive levels, small diamond and large diamond!
There will be a virtual meeting for anyone interested in becoming a NOLL/SOLL Umpire

Who makes a good NOLL/SOLL Umpire?
- Any adult who enjoys the game of baseball and wants to give back to their community
- Parents of Little League players
- 12-17 year olds looking for leadership training opportunities
No experience necessary! Each season, there are several umpire training clinics that cover rules, field mechanics, and game management. New umpires may also request mentoring from an experienced umpire to help them along.
We provide official umpire shirts, caps, and equipment. Umpires must have their own protective cup. Junior umpires receive a meal stipend.

Steps to Becoming a NOLL/SOLL Umpire
Adult Umpires
- Sign up in SportsConnect
- To register YOURSELF as an umpire, you will need to select “LOGIN” (if you already have an account) or “REGISTER”.
- From “My Account”, select “Volunteer”. Find the “Officials” program, select “Divisions” and Click “Officials”, select “Umpire”, and your name to complete the form.
- Pass a criminal background check (completed through your SportsConnect registration)
- Complete Concussion training
- Complete Cardiac training
- Complete SafeSport Abuse Awareness Training
- Upload all Certificates to your SportsConnect account!
- Attendance at a Rule and Field Mechanics clinic
- ADULTS MUST ALSO GO THROUGH A LPG LIVESCAN FINGERPRINT PROCESS
- This is a once-and-done process, paid for by NOLL/SOLL
- Bring a valid Government/State issued photo ID and the Request for Live
Scan Service form requesting the background check.- Read the instructions fully and carefully

Junior Umpires
Junior umpires must have a unique email address to register in SportsConnect.
- If the Junior Umpire is registered as a player, has their own email, and is comfortable with handling communication with us, great!
- “Login” following the above steps from the Parent/Guardian account, and select “Jr. Umpire”, “Sign up New User”.
- If the Junior Umpire is registered as a player, but will have a Parent/Guardian manage their volunteer/umpire account, use a second email address to register them.
- If you use Gmail, there’s an easy option: create a Gmail “plus” address (also called an alias). When you sign them up, add a + and any word after your Gmail username. For example, if your email is: baller@gmail.com, you can sign up using baller+jrUmpire@gmail.com (or any variation you prefer). Messages sent to that address will still arrive in your baller@gmail.com inbox. No extra setup needed.
- Junior Umpires that are NOT registered to play NOLL/SOLL, you will “Register” and follow the ADULTS instructions until you see the Umpire / Junior umpire screen – select “Jr. Umpire” and select yourself.
