Who? Volunteers interested in umpiring at youth baseball games in Oakland.
When? We have 2 programs in need of volunteer umpires:
Spring (Feb through early June, tryouts in early Jan) Main competitive season for Little League baseball
Fall (Labor Day through mid November) More casual – a great way to get your feet wet in a non-competitive games
What? NOLL/SOLL is a Little League program. We provide youth baseball to 1500 youth in Oakland annually with over 100 teams. We need volunteers skilled and passionate about baseball to umpires games in our competitive divisions.
During the Spring we have 400 competitive games that we provide volunteer umpires for, games are usually on the weekends, occasionally on weeknights. Fall and Seniors are shorter seasons, but we still have games to provide umpires for. In the Spring we provide several umpire training clinics and we offer mentors for those who would like to volunteer but need to improve their skills and knowledge. We provide uniforms and all equipment necessary for umpiring. Youth umpires will receive a stipend, that varies depending on the level of the game and the position.
All volunteers approved by the board will be required to pass a criminal background check before being allowed to umpire in Little League.
