Memo to Umpires. WELCOME! 2012 UMPIRE REGISTRATION--To register to umpire, if you did not umpire last year, send an email to ggreenfield@litcost.com with your name, the telephone number and email address to use during the season to reach you regarding confirming game assignments, canceling games, etc., your team affiliation, and, if you are a youth umpire, your birth date. If you were registered last year, you do not need to re-register, but you should send any changes to your information (including a change in your team affiliation) to Gary Greenfield at ggreenfield@litcost.com.
-CLINICS: Please recall that each umpire must go to one rules and one field mechanics clinic each year in order to be eligible to do games.
The full NOLLSOLL clinic schedule will be posted shortly and emails sent. However, there are several District 4 clinics coming up.
This year, for the first time, District 4 will be holding two rules clinics for all District 4 umpires who want to attend. One will be on February 8 at Bishop O'Dowd, which NOLLSOLL is co-hosting with District 4. Tentatively, it will be from 7 pm to 9 pm. District 4 is also having another rules clinic on February 1, also 7 to 9, at Martinez Junior High School, 1600 Court Street, Martinez. Attendance at either clinic satisfies the NOLLSOLL requirement of attendance at a rules clinic.
On March 3, District 4 is holding its annual Basic Field Mechanics Clinic, from 9 to 4, at the Alameda Little League Baseball Complex in Alameda. Attendance at this clinic satisfies the NOLLSOLL requirement of attending a field mechanics clinic. NOLLSOLL will pay the fee for attending this clinic so please let Gary Greenfield (ggreenfield@litcost.com) know if you are planning on attending this clinic.

-REQUESTING GAMES: Once the schedules are posted, you will be able to request games through Sportability. You will receive an email confirming your request and, normally within a few days, another email assigning you the game or denying the request with an explanation (for example, someone else had requested it first.)
-MENTORING PROGRAM: There is a mentoring program for people who are interested in working with more experienced umpires initially. When you register to umpire, you will be asked whether you are interested in either mentoring or being mentored. You will also see a list of games with available mentors when you go onto Sportability to request games and can be paired with a mentor by requesting one of them.
-RULE UPDATES--Watch this space for more information. Join the NOLLSOLL Umpire Discussion Forum We have a discussion forum for talking about rules and other issues and finding game assignment replacements. In order to join, go to http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/nollsoll and ask to join the group. On the top right hand side of the page, find the button entitled "Join This Group". If you have a Yahoo ID, enter it. Otherwise, follow the directions for signing up. Once you have your ID, your request to join the group will be forwarded to the group moderator. As soon as the request is approved, you will receive an email notification and can begin posting messages and participating in the discussions. Note: This forum does not replace the Sportability game scheduling and assignment website for requesting game assignments.
