Seniors
Seniors is for players aged 15-16. This division is intended to run as a
complement to High School baseball. As such, the season starts as the
High School season is closing. Players aged 14 who are playing on a HS
team will be placed in the Seniors division.
Seniors is a competitive program, but during the regular season, NOLL/SOLL
places the emphasis on fundamentals, not on winning.
Players must go thru the tryout process to be drafted to a team. Since
teams are formed by draft, practice conflicts and buddy requests can not
be honored. Siblings playing in the same age division will be
placed on a team together.
Tryouts and draft happen in late February. The
season begins in mid May and ends in mid June. There is a
doubleheader each Sunday with weekday games on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Games and practices are held on various ball fields in Berkeley, Oakland and Piedmont. Field
allocations are determined every year by the city councils and therefore vary from year to year.
Seniors is played on an traditional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60.5 feet.
Players receive a team hat, jersey, pants, belt and socks from the league (belt and jersey must be returned).
Helmets, catcher’s gear, balls, bats and bases are provided by the league. Players bring baseball
mitts and baseball cleats (metal cleats are allowed).
NOLL/SOLL is entirely run by volunteers.
Every family is expected to volunteer for both league level and team level jobs. The volunteer sign-up for league level positions is on the back of the registration form and must be completed in order to accept the registration. Each team is required to designate 3 adult, trained umpires. Coaches will describe the various team level volunteer positions required which include field set-up parents, Bat-a-Thon fundraiser parent and safety parent.
