Little League Majors
Majors is the division most identified with National Little League and is the division
which, ultimately, sends AllStar teams to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.
Majors is primarily for
players aged 11-12 who are ready for competitive, kid-pitch baseball. 10 yr olds who tryout and
are qualified are eligible to play-up.
Majors is a competitive program.
Players must go thru the tryout process to be drafted to a team. Since
teams are formed by draft, practice conflicts and buddy requests can not
be honored. Only the child of the Head Coach may be
'frozen' in the draft.
Tryouts happen in late January, with the draft in early February. The
regular season begins in early March and ends in early June. Two games per
week, mostly on weekends, with usually half a dozen mid-week games.
Two practices are held per week at a field, day and time determined by
your coach.
The season culminates with a Championship Tournament, with the winners advancing to regional Tournament
of Champions, which can extend the season to the end of June. Further, for
those players selected to League AllStar teams in late June, the season can potentially extend to August.

Games and practices are held on various ball fields in Berkeley, Oakland and Piedmont. Field
allocations are determined every year by the city councils and therefore vary from year to year.
Majors is played on a 60-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 46 feet.
Players receive a team hat, jersey, belt and socks from the league (belt and jersey must be returned).
Helmets, catcher’s gear, balls, bats and bases are provided by the league. Players bring baseball
mitts, socks, pants and baseball cleats (metal cleats not allowed).
NOLL/SOLL is entirely run by volunteers.
Every family is expected to volunteer for both league level and team level jobs. The volunteer sign-up for league level positions is on the back of the registration form and must be completed in order to accept the registration. Each team is required to designate 3 adult, trained umpires. Coaches will describe the various team level volunteer positions required which include field set-up parents, Bat-a-Thon fundraiser parent and safety parent.
