Big League
Big League is for players aged 17-18. This division is intended to run as a
complement to varsity High School baseball. As such, the season starts after the
High School season ends.
Big League is a competitive program, drawing players from across District-4.
Big League is the only competitive NOLL/SOLL program not subject to
boundary restrictions. Big League plays a Section-wide schedule. During
the regular season, players can expect to travel as far as Sonoma, Vallejo
or Sacramento for games.
Big League usually has two teams, formed by coaches' consensus in late
May. The
season begins in late May and rns thru July.
Big League is played on an traditional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60.5 feet.
Players receive a team hat, jersey, pants, belt and socks from the league (belt and jersey must be returned).
Helmets, catcher’s gear, balls, bats and bases are provided by the league. Players bring baseball
mitts and basebal cleats (metal cleats are allowed).
NOLL/SOLL is entirely run by volunteers.
Every family is expected to volunteer for both league level and team level jobs. The volunteer sign-up for league level positions is on the back of the registration form and must be completed in order to accept the registration. Each team is required to designate 3 adult, trained umpires. Coaches will describe the various team level volunteer positions required which include field set-up parents, Bat-a-Thon fundraiser parent and safety parent.
