2010 FALL BALL
Intermediate (Minors) and Advanced (Majors) Fall Ball is now full! With limited fields during the fall, we have to limit participation. Teams are forming, and we don't expect more spots to open up, but you can follow the link below to sign up for the waitlist.

Juniors Fall Ball Registration is still open! Click here to register.

* Fall Ball teams will be formed the first week of Sept and you will be contacted at that time.

* Games (or skills clinics) at all levels will start Sunday September 12 and end Oct31-Nov1; there will be no playoffs.

* Please note that for Fall Ball, your little league age is your age as of April 30, 2011 (next year's age).

* Intermediate Fall Ball is for players 2011 league age 8-11 who played coach pitch, AA or AAA in 2010. Intermediate Fall Ball will be kid-pitch. Team formation will happen in early September with no tryouts. Games will be once per weekend (likely Sundays) and practices will be once per week.

* Competitive Fall Ball is for players league age 10-12 who played AAA or Majors in 2010. There will be no tryouts; team formation will happen by the first week of September, and you will be notified before the first week of play. Games will be once per weekend (likely Sundays) and practices will be once per week.

* Juniors Fall Ball is for players league age 13-14 regardless of what division they played last year. Juniors Fall Ball will be a very informal and instructional program to get players used to the Juniors diamond (80 foot bases) and rules (leads and steals) and will be a mixture of skills sessions and pickup style games. There will NOT be mid-week practices.

* NOLL/SOLL reserves the right to move players between divisions as necessary to provide a competitively balanced experience.

* Until August 31, Fall Ball fees may be refunded less a $5 processing charge. There will be no refunds of the Fall Ball registration fee after August 31st, regardless of reason.

SECTION 1 DIVISION 2 ALLSTARS
Dateline 7/30: UCA scored in the bottom of the 11th of the continuation to force a decisive Championship game. JohnT held UCA to just 3 runs thru 5 innings in the second game, but Oakland couldn't muster more than a pair of runs of their own. A 3-run outburst in the top of the 7th closed out the scoring.

Congrats to the Oakland Seniors - they came within a single run of advancing to the Western Regional. Throughout, the Oakland players showed respect for the game and for their opponents.

Congrats also to Union City American - travel safe and represent Northern California well!

Oakland Seniors: 5-2

Dateline 7/17: Behind the stalwart pitching of MatteC, the Oakland Seniors team snuck past Benicia (in Benicia) Saturday night. This was Oakland's first game of AllStars, while Benicia had played 4 in the District 53 tourney. After 5 innings of scoreless ball, Oakland scored 1 in the bottom of the 6th and then watched Benicia plate 2 to take a 2-1 lead in the top of the 7th. Oakland carried a never-say-die attitude and sure enough, the bats woke up just enough. After ZachB's groundout drove in DaveB, WyattP put the ball in play and DaramaniS, plunked 3 times on the night, scored the second of two runs in the bottom of the 7th to walk off with a win and a berth in the winner's bracket final vs Sun night.

Dateline 7/18: The combination of GabeD, JohnT and JackC pitched the Oakland Seniors squad to a 5-1 victory Sunday night in the winner's bracket finals. Oakland is now in the Championship round, playing in Benicia on Wed vs either Petaluma or Twin Cities. The if-necessary game is Thu night.

Dateline 7/20: KyleK banged out 4 hits, AlexR and JeremyW contributed a handful each. JohnT pitched shut down ball for 4 innings; ZachB pivoted a couple double plays and GalenE showed off the scoops in the 5th. It was a team effort all game long and the team takes the Section1 banner!

The Oakland Seniors move on to the California Division2 tournament, comprising the final 6 teams remaining in Northern California. Play starts Sat 7/24; Oakland's first game will be Sun 7/25 at 10am in Sunnyvale!

Dateline 7/25: Oakland opened District play with a phenomenal game against SunriseLL. MatteC threw a 65-pitch complete (7 inning) game, with just 13 balls. KyleK drove in both runs with a bases loaded single. WyattP gunned a would-be base stealer, and the rest of the guys did their jobs efficiently. Next up is the winner's bracket final vs deep and raucously cheered Union City American! Come out and root - Tue at 530 at Los Altos HS.

Dateline 7/27: Well, we promised raucous... Oakland drew Union City American in the winner's bracket final tonight, and what promised to be a good game turned out to be a thriller! I mean, when was the last time you saw a player decline to be intentionally walked? When was the last time you saw umpires huddle to discuss the propriety of a fake tag? And, of course, through it all it was the great backdrop of Little League sportsmanship - in fact, Oakland's catcher finished the game wearing some of UCA's gear after his chest protector broke midgame.

Back to the game... GabeD started and lasted 5 innings - and every pitch felt like the 7th game of the World Series. WyattP backstopped like a brick wall, and there was typically strong defense from JeremyW, ZachB and DaramaniS. ConnorS returned from vacation and jumped right into the fire, pitching the final 2 innings for the save. With the win, Oakland moves into the Division 2 Championship round vs Wed's winner (UCA vs Sutter Area). Come out and root - Thu at 530 at Los Altos HS; the if necessary game will be Fri at 530.

Dateline 7/29: Wow. I mean, REALLY WOW. Oakland and Union City American played 10 innings today, plated 2 runs between them and left the field tied. The championship game will resume 7/30 at Los Altos HS at 530pm. Should UCA win the continuation, then immediately following will be the winner take all game. Should Oakland win, then they take the Division 2 banner.

MatteC pitched 7 innings, allowing one unearned run. JackC threw the remainder scoreless. UCA's pitchers were equally good, allowing just one run. The defense sparkled on both sides, featuring diving catches, barehanded grabs of pop flies, double plays, base runners caught stealing and picked off and more. One shining example - in the bottom of the 10th with two outs and a runner on 2nd, JeremyW fielded a single in left field and, with the game on the line, threw out the game winning run with a one hop bullet to catcher WyattP who calmly applied the tag to close out the inning.

So we'll see you tomorrow for at least one more inning!

Rosters of Oakland AllStar teams

Dateline 6/26: The 9-10 SOLL AllStars, with 20+ teams in their bracket, get an early start and an early win!

Dateline 6/28: Both 9-10 teams were in action tonight, and both came away winners. SOLL prevailed 6-4 while NOLL won a barn-burner 16-15 on a crazy double play in the bottom of the 6th.

Dateline 6/29: The 11s were supposed to open play today and both advance, altho only one team had a game. SOLL advances on a forfeit as Continental#2 withdraws; NOLL was able to best Concord American on their own turf.

Dateline 6/30: What's worse than opening against your sister league? Kissing your sister. NOLL and SOLL Juniors play 7 full innings and the score is knotted at 5-5 as darkness hits. Game will resume Friday 7/2, with the winner immediately facing Albany. In other games, both 9-10 teams lose and will play 7/5 in East County.

Dateline 7/1: The 11s split, with NOLL upsetting a solid Alameda team and SOLL falling to an Albany team which didn't know when to stop running.

Dateline 7/2: Friday Night Fights featuring NOLL vs SOLL... The Juniors completed their suspended game at Caldecott with both teams scoring in the 8th; NOLL plating 1 in the top and SOLL plating 2 in the bottom half. SOLL went on to play 8 more innings in a second round loss to Albany. In the Majors division, SOLL mounted a multi run comeback and then held off a 6th inning rally to knock a deft NOLL team into the elimination bracket. In other action, the SOLL 11s are the first NOLL/SOLL team to face elimination, and they survive with a decisive win over Concord American.

Dateline 7/5: After the holiday weekend, several NOLL/SOLL teams were back in action Monday; all wished that the holiday was still going...

Dateline 7/6: 5 teams in action tonight; 5 wins recorded! The Juniors teams both won elimination games going away; SOLL 11s defeat Albany in 4; NOLL and SOLL Majors defeat Walnut Creek and Martinez respectively.

Dateline 7/7:NOLL vs SOLL again (the third time this year), this time in the elimination round for 11s with NOLL prevailing. The SOLL Juniors bowed out to a slick fielding East County squad, but the NOLL Juniors advanced.

Dateline 7/8: NOLL Juniors takes their second loss, but both Majors teams advance in the elimination bracket and the NOLL 11s get past Clayton Valley at home to reach the elimination final Saturday morning at Chabot!

Dateline 7/10: Saturday baseball means no threat of dark for a change... Three NOLL/SOLL teams in action, and apparently 16 was the magic number. SOLL Majors eliminate Pinole Hercules 16-2; NOLL 11s eliminate Albany 16-3 at home and NOLL Majors' run ends at the hands of Concord American 16-3.

Dateline 7/12: NOLL/SOLL is down to just 1 team after the NOLL 11s lost in the championship round; a wonderful pitchers' duel 1-0 to District 4 champ Continental. Meanwhile, SOLL Majors got past homestanding Concord American 4-1 and will face Albany tonight for the right to play Alameda for the District 4 banner.

Dateline 7/13: SOLL's finest prevailed in a close game tonight 3-2 over Albany. SamH threw 5 2/3 strong, and there was offense and defense from all the players throughout. With the win, SOLL moves into the championship round. The challenge: beat Alameda twice in Lafayette Wed and Thu to get their hands on the District 4 banner.

Dateline 7/14: And then there were none. After leading most of the game, the SOLL 12s were upended by Alameda's walk off home run in the championship game. Alameda takes the banner, and SOLL takes the memories of a phenomenal 6 game romp thru the elimination bracket where every game was the end of the season and every play was crucial.
